Resources for Students Interested in Community-Based Learning

Students who have already taken LAIS 301 Spanish in the Community or who enter the University with a language proficiency level that enables them to take courses above 301, can access volunteering in Spanish and/or with the Hispanic / Latino communities through these other methods:

  • Community-Based Learning project within a specific LALIS course (consult with the Department Chair).
  • Volunteer work through the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement.
  • Community project or individual volunteering (without academic credit) with the guidance of a LALIS teacher.
  • LAIS 495 Independent Study

In all cases, please consult with Dr. Karina Vázquez (kvazquez@richmond.edu)
